Modular Technology

Utilizing simple mechanical structural and electrical connectors, aircraft sections may be integrated into a platform to provide features unavailable in current monolithic platforms. These structural connectors are designed to isolate vibrations, thermal expansion/contraction and spike dynamic loads. This reduces structural requirements and aircraft weight.

Using these modular techniques enables interchangeable modular sections. One basic aircraft platform can now mate and fly different modules configured for a specific mission or role. The weight penalities and compromises made to accomodate various missions in a single aircraft can be eliminated when range and payload are an issue. For instance, no longer do we have to debate if the next platform should be manned or un-manned. Using the modular design it would be an operational choice.
